Frequently asked questions
Do I need a multi-material unit like an AMS to print the white lettering on the black background?
No. The model is designed for a single extruder with a manual filament swap. You start printing with black PLA, then pause and switch to white PLA at layer 26 (the color change layer). No AMS or multi-material system is required.
What should I do if the white numbers or VOLVO text come out blurry or hard to read?
Make sure your printer has active cooling (part fan) turned on during the print — this sharpens overhangs and small text features. Also verify you are using the recommended 0.16 mm layer height and a 0.4 mm nozzle; thicker layers or a larger nozzle will reduce text detail.
Can I use a filament other than PLA, like PETG or ABS?
The model was tested and optimized for PLA. PETG or ABS may work, but you would need to adjust temperatures and cooling, and the color-change layer 26 is calibrated for PLA’s typical layer height. If you switch materials, the text contrast and dimensional fit of the keyring hole could change.
